Overview

Vaishno Devi Temple is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in India, located in the Trikuta Hills near Katra, in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Dedicated to Mata Vaishno Devi, an incarnation of Goddess Durga, the shrine attracts millions of devotees each year.Mata Vaishno Devi is a manifestation of Goddess Durga and represents the collective power of the divine trinity – Mahalakshmi, Maha Saraswati, and Mahakali. Legend says that the Goddess took refuge in the cave to escape Bhairon Nath, a demon who was after her. After slaying him, she chose to stay at the Vaishno Devi cave, blessing her devotees from there.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Katra

Arrival in Katra as it is the base town for the Vaishno Devi Yatra. Check-in to your hotel, If time permits, visit local temples such as Banganga Temple or Raghunath Temple in Katra. Explore the local market for souvenirs like prasad, holy threads, and religious items. Head back to your onward destination via flight or train. Over night stay in Katra

Day 2 Maa Vaishnodevi Darshan

After breakfast, proceed for the Bhawan for Darshan. You can opt for Horse, Pittu, Palki or you can start the trek by walk as well. Once reach the Bhawan, you can buy Prasad over there. Once you reach down, If time permits, visit local temples such as Banganga Temple or Raghunath Temple in Katra. Explore the local market for souvenirs like prasad, holy threads, and religious items. Overnight stay in Katra

Day 3 Departure

Head back to your onward destination via flight or train.
